On 22/06/2022, the Federazione Nazionale degli Ordini dei Chimici e dei Fisici conferred Jorge Mario Bergoglio H. H. Pope Francis the title of Chimico Onorario.
The title is awarded to Him for His closeness to the Chemical Sciences as the foundation of the activities placed to protect and safeguard the environment, for His commitment aimed at creating a universal ecological consciousness that will determine a reversal of course and lead to scientific, productive and technological progress capable of combining social sustainability with the equitable and universal use of the planet’s resources.
