Cerevisiae which is added to a liquid solution of essential nutrients, at a suitable temperature and pH level. Once the cell population has grown enough, it is transferred into a larger bioreactor for a new growth stage; 7 or 8 stages are usually performed to reach a satisfactory production amount.
