These single crystals in tetrahydrofuran are isomerized into new single crystals of 4C<small><sub>4<\/sub><\/small>H<small><sub>8<\/sub><\/small>O@[CdI<small><sub>2<\/sub><\/small>L] (9.15 \u00c5 thickness layer) with a 2D topology of sql {4<small><sup>4<\/sup><\/small>\u02d16<small><sup>2<\/sup><\/small>}. The tetrahydrofuran solvate molecules of 4C<small><sub>4<\/sub><\/small>H<small><sub>8<\/sub><\/small>O@[CdI<small><sub>2<\/sub><\/small>L] are fully replaced by adsorption of dihalomethane molecules in the single-crystal-to-single-crystal (SCSC) mode. The most interesting feature is that both 3CH<small><sub>2<\/sub><\/small>Cl<small><sub>2<\/sub><\/small>\u02d12C<small><sub>2<\/sub><\/small>H<small><sub>5<\/sub><\/small>OH@[CdI<small><sub>2<\/sub><\/small>L] and 4C<small><sub>4<\/sub><\/small>H<small><sub>8<\/sub><\/small>O@[CdI<small><sub>2<\/sub><\/small>L] crystals are integral to an efficient and tolerant matrix for recognition of diiodomethane (CH<small><sub>2<\/sub><\/small>I<small><sub>2<\/sub><\/small>) in the SCSC mode, even though the adsorption rate of 4C<small><sub>4<\/sub><\/small>H<small><sub>8<\/sub><\/small>O@[CdI<small><sub>2<\/sub><\/small>L] crystals is much faster than that of 3CH<small><sub>2<\/sub><\/small>Cl<small><sub>2<\/sub><\/small>\u02d12C<small><sub>2<\/sub><\/small>H<small><sub>5<\/sub><\/small>OH@[CdI<small><sub>2<\/sub><\/small>L].
